It was a failure and he talks about it in second motivational book “Rebound Rules” by Rick Pitino and Pat Forde. He says that it forced him to rethink about his entire career plan and his ten year, fifty million dollar contract. He chronicles his series of personal and professional setbacks including an unsuccessful stint witht the Boston Celtics, the tragic deaths of two brothers-in-law (one who died in the terror attacks of 9/11), and the loss of an infant son. Coach Pitino tries to explain how adversity can create new opportunities to gain a better perspective on life and work. He offers advice on not “Chasing money and then find success” that if you have “Success the money will be like it’s shadow”. He takes lessons from on and off the court and applies them to “life”. It’s the advice about executing an new strategy when life doesn’t go according to plan that spoke to me. Usually, motivational books are about someone’s success, but this book is how to deale with success, but profe …

They would rather have that big, bruising running back. This is the reason why ten other running backs were chosen before him. That’s right, ten. Darren McFadden, J Stewart, Felix Jones, R Mendenhall, Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, Ray Rice, Kevin Smith, Jacob Hester and Jamaal Charles were all taken ahead of Slayton, in that order. Houston expected Slayton to be that 3rd down back this season. But then Ahman Green got injured and Slayton was thrust into the starting role. Their will be no looking back. A Green is done. He may still get some carries to spell Slayton, but it is evident that Slayton gives them the best chance to win. Slayton is listed at 5′9″ and 204 lbs, but he runs much bigger than that. He is not afraid to run it inside and he has the speed to take it to the house when he finds a crease. He has only played in 4 games, but so far has proven to be durable. If he can continue that trend, th …

Sections Two and Three provide instructions for performing 40 basketball-specific strength and power training exercises and includes complete year-round strength programs. The final section examines movement training for basketball, with keys to enhancing speed, quickness and agility. Customer Review: Excellent For Women As coach of a women’s basketball team, I highly recommend this book for WOMEN players, and their coaches, as well. The instructions are clear and concise and extremely thorough. From the first chapter on the importance of flexibility and warm-up to the year-round conditioning calendar at the end, this book is an invaluable guide. Customer Review: good for lacrosse players I gave my copy to one of my lacrosse players. Now, most of the team uses Emma’s book for their workouts. Too bad for Amazon they’re too cheap to buy their own copy. Emma takes a topic most of the teens are too macho to ask questions about and puts them on a logical program.

If you choose your shoes with care, they will help you avoid injuries and also help you to move swiftly across the court. Types Of Basketball Footwear The type of the shoes varies from player to player. As you would be aware, that there are mainly three types of basketball players; power players, all-round players and speedsters. Power players require basketball sneakers with high tops that provide highest ankle support with great comfort. Usually when you look at a matchup the answer is pretty obvious, and that obvious answer is usually the right one. There will always be matchups that can go either way like two solid teams playing each other, the best way to get down on these games is to not get down at all. The problem we usually face is not “who’s going to win?” it’s “who’s going to cover the spread?” I’m talking about basketball and football. When it comes to baseball and hockey the same methods apply without the factor of a point spread unless you like puck lines and run lines. Some people get so deep into stats that all the information starts to cancel out the two teams. The trick is to narrow your research to the important stats the ones that count. For example, in football, turnovers are a unpredictable part of the game. If I see a team that averages 1.4 fumbles per game against one that averages 2 fumbles per game I am …

There are many benefits of basketball training but the two that stand out are athletic performance and injury prevention. Strengthening your core, quads, calves, biceps, back and chest allow you to jump higher, take it to the hole stronger and provides more stability when taking more contact. Vince Carter is a great example in this situation. Imagine if Carter didn’t workout in any way shape or form. You have to realize that guys his size would be eating him up like sweet potato pie. But, with the extensive training that NBA professionals do allows him to jump and stay in the air for longer than his opponents and still manage to dunk OVER them; Sorry Alonzo Mourning. As a person who resides in Toronto, Ontario, home of the Raptors and as much as I hate Carter (as a player), that kind of performance is jaw dropping. As you can see basketball training can add to your game i …
